Gjersjøen is a lake in the province ( Fylke ) Viken . The lake is located south of Oslo and has an area of 2.64 km².
location
Most of Gjersjøen is in the municipality of Nordre Follo to the west of the two localities Kolbotn and Oppegård . The southern area belongs to Ås municipality . The lake is elongated in a north-south direction and runs parallel to the Bunnefjord , part of the Oslofjord . European route 18 (E18) runs between Gjersjøen and the Bunnefjord , in the east is European route 6 (E6). Both establish the connection to Oslo in the north . The Østfoldbanen tracks also run to the east of the lake . The Gjersjøelva , which flows into the Bunnefjord, forms an outflow from the lake.
Ecological condition
In 2008, the ecological status was rated as moderate with a tendency towards poor status. The reason for this was the high phosphorus content of the water. In 2013 the condition was classified as good, but the phosphorus intake was still viewed as problematic. The course of two busy European roads through the Gjersjøen catchment area is also seen as problematic for water quality. The lake served as a source of drinking water for 40,000 people in Ås and what was then Oppegård in 2013 .
Flora and fauna
The wetland is of great importance for migratory birds , especially in Slorene in the extreme southeast. Slorene is a delta area with many aquatic plants and a rich bird life. Perch and pike can mainly be found in the lake .
Surname
In 1400 the lake was mentioned in writing as Gærdasior . The name was derived from the river name Gerð (r) . It is believed that this name means "the river that forms the border".
