The 2017 German Baseball Bundesliga was the 34th season of the Baseball Bundesliga . The regular playing time started on March 31st and ended on July 16th. Interleague games followed from July 29th to August 27th, after which the German champions were determined in the play-offs from September 2nd . Mainz Athletics started the season as defending champions . The Dohren Wild Farmers rose from the 2nd Bundesliga North, the Saarlouis Hornets from the 2nd Bundesliga South in the respective season of the 1st Bundesliga. The Hanover Regents were relegated voluntarily from the 1st Bundesliga North, and the Tübingen Hawks athletically from the 1st Bundesliga South . Thus, the North Division continued to play with 7 teams, the South Division with 8 teams.
As part of a league reform, interleague games were introduced, in which, after the main round, the four best teams in one season played two games against the four best-placed teams in the other season. A seeding list for the play-offs was formed from a table in which all games (main and interleague round) with the exclusive participation of these eight teams were taken into account. The other teams won the relegation and relegation participants in play-downs.

All-Star-Game 2017
The all-star game of the Bundesliga baseball was played on July 23, 2017 in the Ballpark of the Haar Disciples in Munich-Haar between a selection of players from the Bundesliga baseball and the German national baseball team . The national team won the game by a clear 11: 1. Philip Schulz from the Heidenheim Heideköpf was named Most Valuable Player . The Home Run Derby was won by Ryan Bollinger of the Hair Disciples.
