The Hannover Regents are the baseball and softball department within the gymnastics and sports club Vahrenwald 08 e. V. from Hanover . The Regents were founded in 1984 and consist of three men's teams, one women's softball team and several youth teams.
history
Between 1987 and 1994 the Regents played in the 2. Bundesliga North, in which they were promoted to the league in 1994. The direct relegation was followed by relegation to the association league. Between 1998 and 2005, the team shuttled between the Regionalliga and the Verbandsliga, until promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga in 2005 and the march through to the 1st Bundesliga in 2006.
After seventh and penultimate place in the regular round, the Regents were in the playdowns of the Bundesliga North in 2008. There they were again penultimate and had to play the relegation games against the second in the promotion round. The Regents, however, withdrew their team for 2009 from the Bundesliga game operation, although the first relegation game of a best-of-three series was won against the Dohren Wild Farmers .
From the association league in 2009 the direct promotion to the regional league and in 2011 the promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga. In 2012 and 2013 the athletic qualification for the 1st Bundesliga was achieved, but it was voluntary in 2012 and no promotion in 2013 due to license criteria not being met. After promotion to the 1st Bundesliga in 2014, they managed to stay in the play-downs. After receiving further sporting classes in 2015 and 2016, the Regents voluntarily relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga.
successes
The club's greatest successes include the three-time promotions of the first men's team to the first Bundesliga in 1995, 2006 and 2014. In addition, men and women have already won several NBSV Cup winners and Lower Saxony champions. The youth teams of the Hannover Regents have won several titles in Lower Saxony and North German championships.
