Aquaristics

The Kaudi was the first viviparous toothcar in 1898 to be imported to Germany for the purpose of keeping aquariums, and it has contributed significantly to the popularization of keeping tropical fish in aquariums. Back then, up to 150 gold marks were paid for a breeding pair . Today its importance is rather minor in view of the numerous much more colorful tropical ornamental fish . In the aquarium hobby, a color morph known as a spotted kaudi , which is characterized by a more or less strong black spotting (males usually more than females), is most widespread. Another morph is the reddish-brown spotless Kaudi, also known as the "gold gambuse".
