Baseball Bundesliga 1988

The baseball league in 1988 was the fifth edition of the baseball league as the top division in German baseball . For the fifth time, the Mannheim Tornados were able to win the German baseball championship, and for the fifth time a team from Cologne was runner-up. These were the Cologne Cardinals in 1988 and 1985 .


Regular season

The season started with eight teams, but the Mannheim Amigos were disqualified during the season. Each team only had to play 14 games during the regular season. Three cities could each provide two teams, these were Düsseldorf with the Diamonds and the Senators, Cologne with the Cardinals and the Dodgers and Mannheim with the Amigos and the Tornados.

For the first time in the Bundesliga, the Hamburg Knights and the Düsseldorf Senators started.

Play-offs

The best four teams of the regular season qualified for the play-offs , which were played in the best-of-three system. All of these duels were decided prematurely after two games.
