Ludwig Glaser (born December 19, 1987 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German baseball player . As a national player , he took part in World and European Championships and the World Baseball Classic . With the Buchbinder Legionaries he was German champion several times.

Athletic career

youth

Even as a child, Glaser was passionate about sports. From the age of three he played tennis and later handball . He discovered his love for baseball at the Bad Homburg Hornets . As one of the first athletes, Glaser attended the sports boarding school in Regensburg at the age of 15 and has since played for the Buchbinder legionaries.

Professional contract in the USA

During his participation in the MLB European Academy in 2006 and 2007 won Ludwig Glaser attention from scouts of Major League Baseball . The Los Angeles Angels then signed the third baseman . Glaser was used in 2008 in the Rookie League with the AZL Angels . Before the start of the season he was hit in the face by a ball during spring training and seriously injured. He was unable to make up for the training deficit caused by the injury break. His performance at the AZL Angels fell short of expectations. Despite convincing performances with the national team and winning the German championship with the legionnaires in the same year, the Los Angeles Angels released him prematurely.

Ludwig Glaser has been playing for the Buchbinder Legionnaires without a break since 2003. Ludwig Glaser was German champion several times with the Regensburg team . He took part three times in the World Baseball Championship , the 2013 World Baseball Classic Qualifier , the 2008 Olympic qualification, and several European baseball championships and the 2008 European Under-21 Championship. In the Bundesliga baseball , Glaser is considered a strong batsman. His total batting average from 363 Bundesliga games was .346 at the end of the 2014 season. On July 3, 2015, Glaser hit his 500th hit in a Bundesliga game in the Mainz Athletics game against Buchbinder Legionaries . In the final round of the 2015 German baseball championship, he was named the best batter of the series. On May 7, 2016, he scored his 541st hit in the Bundesliga for the legionnaires and is the record holder in this statistic.
