The World Matchplay 2013 was the 20th edition of the World Matchplay , organized by the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC). The tournament took place in Blackpool from July 20-28, 2013 .

In the final, defending champion and record winner Phil Taylor defeated two-time world champion Adrian Lewis , who was in the final of the World Matchplay for the first time, with 18:13. Taylor was able to win the competition for the sixth time in a row, winning a total of 14 times.

As in the previous four years, the 2013 prize money was again £ 400,000.

Up to and including the World Matchplay 2012 , all games in this tournament had to be won by at least two legs. There was no sudden death . This regulation did not apply for the first time in 2013 after the PDC and its partner Sky Sports had agreed that a maximum of five extra legs would be played before the tie-break leg. In the first round (best of 19 legs) there could be a maximum of 25 legs. When the score was 12:12, a decision leg was played.

The top 16 players of the PDC Order of Merit were set. The remaining 16 players were the best (not yet set via the PDC Order of Merit) players of the PDC Pro Tour 2013 .
