The Stan James World Matchplay 2006 was a major tournament in darts and was organized by the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC). It was held from July 23 to 29, 2006 in Blackpool's Winter Gardens .

The defending champion Colin Lloyd was defeated this year in the first round with 6:10 to the Englishman Steve Maish . The new title holder was Phil Taylor , who secured his eighth title by beating James Wade in the final 18:11 .
