The Ball Corporation , founded in 1880 as Ball Brothers Glass Manufacturing Company , is an American conglomerate headquartered in Broomfield (Colorado) . Originally a manufacturer of packaging made of glass, Ball is now the world's largest manufacturer of aluminum cans and is also active in the aerospace industry.

Ball Corporation is listed on the S&P 500 stock index. In fiscal 2014, it had sales of $ 8.6 billion. The group has over 100 locations worldwide and employs 18,450 people (2016).

history

The household packaging business (cans) was spun off in 1993 to Alltrista (now renamed Jarden Corporation ). The subsidiaries also include Ball Aerospace and Ball Packaging Europe .

On June 30, 2016, the takeover of the British competitor Rexam was completed. However, following an antitrust review by the EU Commission, the now market leader had to sell 22 works. The Ardagh Group was awarded the contract .
