Balnacrae
The Orkney-Cromarty-Cairn (OC) of Balnacrae ( English Balnacrae Chambered Cairn ) is located in the hamlet Swordale north of Dingwall in Ross-shire in the Highlands in Scotland . The Orkney Cromarty type is a specific form of the megalithic Stalled cairns that belong to the Passage Tombs .
The chamber has been almost completely removed, but the curb of the cairn can be seen with a diameter of over 28.0 m. The chamber was very large and many of the stones with heights between 0.7 and 1.95 m remained scattered. The chamber was entered through a corridor at the northeast end.
The Neolithic megalithic complex was built between 4000 and 2000 BC. Built in BC.
Nearby is the Orkney-Cromarty-Cairn Heights of Brae .
