Banana Republic is a fashion company, belonging to the company GAP Inc. belongs. The company was only active in the USA , Canada and Asia until 2008 . The brand was founded in 1978 by Mel and Patricia Ziegler, the first store opened in Mill Valley / California that same year. Banana Republic was acquired by Gap in 1983.
