The Snow Dome Bispingen is a ski hall in Bispingen , Lower Saxony , which opened on October 21, 2006.

The slope is about 300 m long and up to 100 m wide. On the snow area of ​​around 23,000 m² there was a so-called fun park , a toboggan run and a beginner's slope in addition to the downhill slope before the renovation work . The gradient is between 20% (top) and 9% (bottom).

There are three ski lifts in the hall : a platter drag lift with a capacity of 710 people / hour and a chair lift with a capacity of 3,000 people / hour. Both lifts are manufactured by the cable car manufacturer Doppelmayr . There is also a people mover for the beginners' slope.

The temperature inside the hall, which is open all year round, is kept constant at −2 to −4 ° C during operation. There is an ice balcony for spectators, which can be entered for a fee.

Renovation 2013

The Snow Dome closed on March 31, 2013, and the continuation of operations was initially uncertain. The employees got their notice. From May 2013, the cooling and snow-making systems in the hall were completely rebuilt according to a new concept, which is primarily intended to reduce high energy costs. The ski lifts were also completely refurbished as part of the renovation work. After the extensive renovation work, the ski hall was reopened on November 2, 2013 with shorter opening times, which are intended to reduce personnel costs.

Extension to the garden railway system 2020

From September 2019, a model railway was installed under the hall , which, when it opened on July 1, 2020, will be the world's largest system in nominal size  G ( NEM - nominal size IIm , scale 1: 22.5) with 20 km of track network on 12,000 m² .
