The Banca Românească is a credit institution in Romania . The Bucharest- based company operates as a universal bank.

history

The bank was founded after the political change in 1992, until 1996 it had only six branches. It was not until 1997 that the company expanded into a nationwide bank with the entry of investors. Since October 2003 the National Bank of Greece has held 89.07% of the share capital, the remaining shares are held by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development . A takeover of Bancpost was rejected in 2013.

The bank has 200 locations, including 115 branches and 5 business customer centers, and employs 1576 people.
