The Bandırma Air Base ( Turkish Bandırma Hava Üssü ) is a military airport near the city of Bandırma in Turkey.
The airport is used as a military airfield by the Turkish Air Force . You have stationed some flight formations here. The flight operations facilities include the paved runway, which however does not have an instrument landing system , and the taxiway system, numerous hangars and various military installations. There is no night flight ban, so the airport operates 24 hours a day.
Civil aviation is possible in Bandırma, but private planes rarely land at the moment. There are no scheduled flights.
Incidents
- (T) On July 24, 1959, a Nord Noratlas 2501D of the Air Force with the aircraft registration GA + 243 flew on a mission flight in Turkey into a 550 meter high mountain, 18 kilometers northwest of the Bandırma Air Base. All six crew members were killed. The machine belonged to the LTG 61.
