The band cooperative (short: band) is a Swiss cooperative with its headquarters in Bern . As a social enterprise , it pursues the goal of reintegrating people with a health or social impairment into the labor market. The band cooperative is an efficient production and service company with a competent training and industrial center.

The band has a total of over 700 employees in various industries at three locations. More than 330 of them work in sheltered workplaces. On average, around 100 clients are in the process of professional clarification or reintegration. In addition to the more than 150 specialists in action, around 130 apprentices are also doing their training at the band cooperative.

history

Paul Johann Kopp

The association “Das Band” came into being in the mid-1930s in a lung sanatorium in Leysin. The initiator was the primary school teacher Paul Johann Kopp, born in 1907, who was affected by tuberculosis himself .

At the beginning of the 20th century, tuberculosis sufferers had a difficult lot because there were still no effective drugs against the disease. Due to the lack of compulsory insurance and the lack of disability insurance at the time , long-term patients were often “steered”. which only increased the social and societal emergency situation of those affected. To counteract this fate, Kopp formed working groups consisting of patients. They presented all kinds of handicrafts such as B. made leather purses and wallets for a lottery. These products were initially sold to relatives and acquaintances in the homes of so-called “convalescents”.

An independent organization soon developed from the alliance; since 1946 in the form of a cooperative . Since the introduction of the Invalids Act on January 1, 1960, the band cooperative has also had disability insurance (IV) as a strong partner.

Professional integration

The integration measures of the band cooperative are aimed at people who, as a result of illness, accident or unemployment, need professional reorientation or support when returning to work. The following offer helps people to develop and develop their personal talents in the right place:

Professional assessment & training: The measures range from exploring competencies and interests to developing new professional perspectives through to clarifying the ability to integrate.

Vocational training & preparation: Adolescents and young adults with learning and / or performance impairments will find an environment at the band cooperative that supports, encourages and prepares them for professional life.

Day care center & employment: In the day care center, adults with disabilities find a day structure tailored to their needs and meaningful employment.

Fields of work and integration: The fields of work for them are as varied as the talents of the employees of the band cooperative. From services to production to completely individual solutions.

Sheltered workplaces: Employees are accompanied and supported at over 250 sheltered workplaces that match their individual strengths and abilities and their health situation.

Placement & coaching: Individual interventions support the development of a person - with the aim of finding a job in the primary labor market .

Production and service

With diverse fields of application and competent employees, various contract work in production and service are carried out reliably and according to individual needs.

Component assembly : Assembly of simple to complex assemblies for small to large series in tested quality, creation of documentation and execution of tests and function tests.

Office & Shipping: The added value in the administrative area through the collection, processing and digitization of data and the handling of order processes from order receipt to shipping.

Electronics production: Efficient and safe implementation of processes in electronics production, assembly and cable assembly - with experience, qualified specialists and modern infrastructure.

Food & Pharma: Filling, packaging and co-packing of products from the pharmaceutical and food industries in specially equipped and certified rooms.

Assembling & packaging: packaging of products, advertising and communication materials, procurement, receipt, control and storage of goods and advice on packaging concepts.

Mechanical production: Production of workpieces for industry and commerce. Metal and plastics processing extends to high-performance CNC machining centers.

Service & maintenance: Takeover of all tasks that do not belong to the actual core business of customers, but still have to be done. As a quality-conscious and punctual partner in preparation, cleaning, repair, maintenance and service work.
