Ryjet , also RYJET - Aerotaxis del Mediterraneo , was a small Spanish airline based in Málaga . Despite the airline's name, their fleet did not include jets , only turboprop aircraft.

history

The airline was founded in 1999 and was intended to provide air taxi, cargo and charter services in Spain, Portugal and Morocco. Most of the flights, however, took place between Malaga and Melilla . By 2011, the airline had built a kind of airlift between the southern Spanish city and the Spanish property on the Moroccan coast and increased the number of its flights to 108 per month.

Ryjet hit the headlines in 2007 when it became known that it had taken large sums of money as down payments for pilots who wanted to work for the company. In the following years, further irregularities in the operation of the airline were discovered.

By March 2012, Ryjet was experiencing major financial problems and difficulty paying her bills. Three months later, Ryjet announced the discontinuation of operations to its passengers and employees due to the default in payment.
