Bandits of the Acoustic Revolution

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bandits of the Acoustic Revolution , or BOTAR, is an American music collective whose music is composed of elements from Ska , Punk , Classical and Eastern European Folk . The band was founded by former Catch-22 members Tomas Kalnoky and Jamie Egan, as well as Nick Afflitto, Marcy Ciuffreda, Rachel Goldstein, Layton Hayes, John Paul Jones, Achilles Kalnoky, Paul Lowndes, Chris Paszik, Mark Rendeiro, Dan Ross, Pete Sibilia, Shane Thomson and Natalia Ushak.

Unlike other similar bands that primarily combine Ska and Punk, BOTAR play a lot with classical elements and only use acoustic instruments. In 2001 the group released the first and so far only EP "A Call to Arms". After the first edition sold out quickly, the songs were long available as free downloads on the project's website until a re-release in digipak was published in 2005.
