Banpu ( Thai บริษัท บ้าน ปู จำกัด (มหาชน) ; full name in English: Banpu Public Company Limited ) is a Thai mining and power company founded on May 16, 1983 .

Companies

The company mainly operates coal mining and coal-fired power plants in Thailand , Indonesia and the People's Republic of China . Originally called the Ban Pu Coal Company, it was owned by the Auapinyakul and Vongkusolkit families. In 2013 it employed over 6,000 people in six countries. About half in Indonesia, a third in Australia, and the remainder in China, Thailand, Vietnam , Laos, and Mongolia . The Banpu share is part of the SET Index .
