Bao Jian

Bao Jian is a Chinese Guan player.

Bao is a graduate of the Beijing Central Conservatory of Music . He became known as an interpreter of both classical Chinese music and Chinese folk music, as well as the works of contemporary composers. He played the world premiere of Lei Liang's Extend at the Spring Music Festival of the New England Conservatory of Music with saxophonist Kenneth Radnofsky and the American premiere of Xu Zhenmin's Mooring at night by the Maple Bridge with the Phoenix Symphony Orchestra , gave recitals on three continents and performed at the Festival of Asian Art in Hong Kong and at the Festival of Cultures in Berlin. In 1995 he received first prize at the International Chinese Ethnic Instrumental Competition in Beijing and in 1998 the prize from Pro Musicis International . He is the Artistic Director of the Chinese Performing Arts of North America .
