A bottle of Barackpálinka

Barackpálinka [ bɒrɒt͡skpa: linkɒ ] is from Hungary originating fruit brandy ( pálinka ) with a minimum alcohol content of 37.5%.

It is made from apricots ( Hungarian barack ) that are grown in the Hungarian lowlands, distilled and stored in oak barrels, which gives it a golden yellow color. The Barackpálinka can only be described as authentic if the fruits come exclusively from the Hungarian harvest. The burning of Barackpalinka has been known for at least 500 years.

An old or long-term barrack is referred to as an Ó barack or Ó barack.
