Baradostia

As Baradostien early is Upper Paleolithic archaeological industry in the Zagros Mountains on the border between Iran and Iraq , respectively. It follows the Moustérien from around 36,000 BC. Chr.

Radiocarbon measurements suggest that this is one of the earliest Upper Paleolithic complexes in this region. Possible links to neighboring industries are unclear.

The most important excavated sites include the Shanidar cave in northern Iraq (layer C), the Warwasi Abri , the Yafteh cave in western Zāgros and the Eshkaft-e gavi cave in southern Zāgros.

Possibly caused by the last cold peak, the baradostia was superseded by the epipalaeolithic zarzien industry. This tool tradition marks the end of the Paleolithic sequence of the Zagros region.
