Barat

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Barat is a strong northwest wind that can occur from December to February in Manado Bay on the north coast of Sulawesi ( Indonesia ). It is caused by the northern monsoon influence , because warm and humid (equatorial) westerly winds predominate. The peculiarity of the region is that the winds are diverted through the numerous islands of Indonesia and sometimes narrowly channeled. This has an influence on the direction and strength of the winds, which change constantly. Their acceleration is also constantly changing. Due to the frequent accompaniment of thunderstorms and the speed, the intensity of the wind can take on destructive proportions.

Barat is the Indonesian term for west. Example: Papua Barat .
