Barbara Fantechi

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Barbara Fantechi (* 1966 ) is an Italian mathematician who studies algebraic geometry .

Fantechi received his doctorate in 1988 under Fabrizio Catanese at the University of Pisa ( Secanti di varietà proiettive e applicazioni ). She is a professor at SISSA in Trieste. In 2008 she worked at the Institute for Advanced Study .

In 2006, together with colleagues, she was the author of a book of a modern (and more detailed than in the original work) presentation of the Fondements de la Géometrie Algébrique (FGA) by Alexander Grothendieck , a fundamental, classical series of essays on algebraic geometry from the Grothendieck school.

In 2000 she was invited speaker at the European Congress of Mathematicians in Barcelona ( Stacks for everybody ).
