Barbara Sletto

Barbara Sletto (born July 30, 1962 ) is an American composer, music teacher and choir director.

Sletto studied music education at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul with a focus on the Kodály method . She was the artistic director of the Iowa Youth Chorus , the Des Moines Children's Choruses , the Anderson Area Children's Choir, and the Lakes Treble Choir of Minnesota, and is the founder and director of the Heartland Youth Choir . As a specialist in youth choirs, she has worked as a guest conductor at numerous choir camps and festivals. a. as children's choir director and program director at the International Music Camp , the Wisconsin Summer Music Clinic , the Indiana Choral Director's Summer Music Institute , the Virginia Kodaly Summer Music Camp , the Drake School of Music Summer Camp , the Heartland Choral Camp, and the International Music Institute . Sletto is a professor at Drake University in Des Moines and directs the Drake Women's Chorale . She composed several commissioned works a. a. for the Iowa and Indiana All-State Choir . Her compositions have been published by the Plymouth Music Company , Colla Voce Publishing and the Alliance Publishing Company .
