Gotthard by Vietinghoff

Gotthard Hermann Reinhold Baron von Vietinghoff, called Scheel (born December 7, 1801 in Groß-Bersen in Courland , † October 19, 1878 in Mitau ) was a Kurland state official.

Life

Gotthard von Vietinghoff studied law from 1820 to 1822 at the University of Göttingen, from 1822 to 1823 at the University of Bonn and from 1823 to 1824 again at the University of Göttingen. In 1821 he became a member of Curonia Goettingensis VI, in 1823 of Curonia Bonn and in 1823 of Curonia Goettingensis VII Göttingen. After completing his studies, he became assessor at the Doblenz Hauptmannsgericht in 1826 and at the Oberhauptmannsgericht in Mitau in 1833. From 1840 to 1849 he held the post of captain in Bauske and from 1849 to 1858 the chief captain in Mitau. From 1851 to 1854 he was Landdrosten Marshal, from 1858 to 1860 2nd junior councilor and from 1860 to 1861 Landwarschall. In 1861 he was appointed chancellor, in 1869 court master and in 1874 president of the Courland Higher Court in Mitau. From 1834 to 1840 von Vietinghoff was assessor of the consistory and from 1858 to 1869 honorary curator of the Academia Petrina . From 1861 to 1878 he was director of the Courland Provincial Museum.
