Baron Congleton
Baron Congleton , of Congleton in the County Palatine of Chester , is a hereditary British title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom .
Award
The title was created on August 20, 1841 for the House of Commons and Paymaster General Sir Henry Parnell, 4th Baronet . Already in 1812 he had inherited the title of Baronet , of Rathleague in the Queen's County , from his older brother, which was bestowed on his grandfather John Parnell on November 3, 1766 in the Baronetage of Ireland. The baronetcy has since been a subordinate title of the respective baron.
Today's title holder is his descendant John Parnell as the 9th Baron.
