The title was first created for Sir Roger Damory on November 24, 1317 , when he was appointed to the English Parliament by King Edward II through Writ of Summons . He rebelled against the king in the Despenser War in 1321 and was condemned as a traitor in 1322. The title was forfeited.

On December 3, 1326, the title for Sir Richard Damory , the older brother of the baron first bestowal, was re-created by Edward II summoning him to Parliament through Writ of Summons. The title has been suspended since the death of his son, the 2nd baron, on March 29, 1375 and has probably expired.
