Baron Harding of Petherton
Baron Harding of Petherton , of Nether Compton in the County of Dorset , is a hereditary British title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom .
Award
The title was created on February 17, 1958 for Field Marshal Sir John Harding . He was a famous officer in World War II and in the post-war period. Among other things, he commanded the British Army of the Rhine and was chief of the Imperial General Staff . Eventually he served as the governor of Cyprus .
