Baron Huntingfield is a hereditary British title of nobility awarded twice in the Peerage of England and once in the Peerage of Ireland .

Award

The first two bestowal of the title took place in the Peerage of England, on November 15, 1351 to William de Huntingfield and on August 14, 1362 to John de Huntingfield , when she was appointed to the House of Lords by Writ of Summons . Both titles expired or fell in Abeyance when the respective first baron without male descendants died.

In the third bestowal, the title of Baron Huntingfield , of Heveningham Hall in the County of Suffolk , was bestowed on July 7, 1796, to Sir Joshua Vanneck, 3rd Baronet . This was from 1790 to 1816 MP in the House of Commons . The award was made in the Peerage of Ireland so that he could keep the seat in the House of Commons and not have to give it up in favor of a seat in the House of Lords . Today's title holder is his descendant Joshua Vanneck as the 7th Baron.

The family seat of the barons was Heveningham Hall near Heveningham and Huntingfield in Suffolk until 1970.
