Baron Piercy

Baron Piercy , of Burford in the County of Oxford , is a hereditary British title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom .

The title was awarded to the entrepreneur and economist William Piercy on November 14, 1945 . During the Second World War he was secretary in various ministries, including those for procurement and aircraft production. In the following period he was from 1946 to 1956 director of the Bank of England .

Today's title holder has been his grandson as 3rd Baron since 1981.
