Baron Playfair

Lyon Playfair, 1st Baron Playfair

Baron Playfair , of St Andrews in the County of Fife , was a hereditary British title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom .

The title was awarded on September 3, 1892, to the chemist and Liberal MP, Sir Lyon Playfair .

The title expired on December 26, 1939 with the death of his only son, the 2nd Baron, as his only son had died childless in the First World War in 1915 .
