Baron Tyrawley

Baron Tyrawley was a hereditary British title of nobility awarded twice in the Peerage of Ireland .

Awards

The title was first created on January 10, 1706 for the military Sir Charles O'Hara . His son James O'Hara was also a successful military man and was promoted to Baron Kilmaine on February 8, 1722 , before he also inherited his father's title of 2nd Baron in 1724. Since he did not leave any legitimate children, both titles expired on his death on July 14, 1773.

In the second bestowal, the title of Baron Tyrawley , of Ballinrobe in the County of Mayo , was recreated for James Cuffe on November 7, 1797 . In 1800 he was elected one of the first Irish Representative Peers and thus also became a member of the British House of Lords . The title expired on his death on June 15, 1821.
