Baron Willoughby de Broke is a hereditary British title in the Peerage of England .

Awards and other titles

The title was created on August 12, 1491 for the Knight of the Order of the Garter Sir Robert Willoughby when he was appointed to the House of Lords by Writ of Summons . As Barony by writ , the title can also be inherited in the female line in the absence of male descendants.

The first two barons Willoughby de Broke were from today's perspective de jure also the owner of the 1,299 jobs created in the Peerage of England title Baron Latimer as the ninth or tenth Baron, made this title but in his lifetime not claimed. This title fell in Abeyance in 1521 and has been suspended since then.

The 5th Baron was also elevated to Baron Brooke in the Peerage of England in 1621 . Due to a special inheritance regulation, this title fell to another line of the family on his death.

The barons' headquarters are in Brook Hall in Heywood near Westbury in Wiltshire , to which the addition de Broke refers.
