Baron Windlesham

Baron Windlesham , of Windlesham in the County of Surrey , is a hereditary British title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom .

Award, subordinate and other titles

The title was created on February 22, 1937 for Sir George Hennessy, 1st Baronet . He was a member of the House of Commons in the interwar period and held various offices in government and at the court of the British royal family . As early as January 24, 1927, he was awarded the subordinate title of Baronet , of Windlesham in the County of Surrey, in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom .

The 3rd Baron had been a politician in the House of Lords since the mid-1970s . When the automatic seat of hereditary peers was abolished in 1999 , he was named a Life Peer as Baron Hennessy , of Windlesham in the County of Surrey .
