Barons crown

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The baron's crown is a crown of rank and a symbol for barons .

In its simple form it is a headband around which a string of pearls is wound. Three turns are visible. This form was common for France and Italy .

With an additional four visible pearls on the upper edge of the browband, the crown was known in Spain and Portugal .

The British baron's crown is more elaborately designed. Like the crown of all peers, this one has a scarlet cap with a gold tassel. The forehead band, adorned with six (four visible) pearls, surrounds the cap and is trimmed with ermine from below . However, the twisted string of pearls or decorations on the browband are missing. The crowns of rank are usually worn at the coronations of British monarchs .
