history

Rohlfs organ from 1801

Today's neo-Romano-Gothic church was built in 1953 on the site of the older church, which had been in danger of collapsing since 1896. The previous church was probably built as a single-nave church with stone vaults and Gothic windows. The interior furnishings of the previous church were partially taken over. In addition to the baroque winged altar, there is an 800-year-old baptismal font and an organ built by Johann Gottfried Rohlfs in 1801 , as well as a pulpit from the 17th century. The free-standing bell tower of the oldest building from the 13th century has also been preserved to this day. The tower is currently out of order as it is in danger of collapsing. Since 2007, instead of real bells, it has been possible to hear a CD with the sound of bells through loudspeakers on the tower.
