History and description of the building

Rohlfs organ from 1795

The Romanesque church was built in the mid-13th century as a hall church built of bricks. The elaborately designed north portal is decorated with a pointed arch cover, round bars and a rare cloverleaf cover, but is now walled up. The vaults are also no longer preserved; originally the church had three yokes. In the 14th and 15th centuries, the windows were enlarged on the long sides and provided with pointed arches. The ship was extended westward in 1865. The old bell tower was replaced in 1823 by a new one in the form of the "parallel wall type".

Furnishing

The interior is now closed by a segmented ceiling made of wood. The body of the crucifix is from the 13th century, while the cross is a more recent work. The pulpit dates from 1703, the brass chandelier from 1754.

organ

In 1795 Johann Gottfried Rohlfs created the organ with eight registers . It has largely been preserved and was restored in 2008/09 by master organ builder Bartelt Immer . The transverse flute and the trumpet were reconstructed.
