Always Bartelt

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bartelt Immer (born November 3, 1956 in Emden ) is a master organ builder from East Friesland , who has emerged from the restoration of historic organs and created widely acclaimed new organs. He developed new techniques in the area of the action and wind supply and made them fruitful for organ building. He has scientifically investigated the influence of the pipe wall thickness on the sound in order to achieve an intensification of the sound by manipulating the material accordingly. In addition to organs, Immer also restores historical keyboard instruments such as harmonies and pianos.

Life

Always comes from an old reformed pastor family from Emden. From 1978 to 1981 he went to the organ building apprenticeship with Gerald Woehl in Marburg . Striving for the ideal of equal teamwork, Immer was a partner in the "Krummhörner Orgelwerkstatt" in Greetsiel from 1985 to 1990 (together with Hero Bödeker, Martin and Wilfried Fooken and Regina Stegemann ). His own workshop was founded in 1991 and is located in Norden- Süderneuland on the historic Beijing court of Count zu Knyphausen Lütetsburg .

plant

The main focus of his work is the restoration of historical organs, but Immer has also renovated newer works. Characteristic of his way of working is the possibility of reversibility , the use of old materials and the creation of detailed documentation in order to meet strict museum principles. In particular, he is active in the organ landscape of East Frisia . So far, he has restored eight organs in the Canary Islands , including three English organs from the 19th century and a few historic northern German organs. The oldest is a table organ from the beginning of the 17th century. In addition, Immer has developed innovative techniques, such as a new type of wind chest or a harpsichord mechanism for positives with the valves at the top.

In addition, Immer, who had four employees in 2017, also restored harmonies (including compressed air instruments from Kannegießer, Schiedmayer and Alexandre Père et Fils ) and pianos (including grand pianos from Steinweg / Successor [1868 / No. 916]) and from sales of the music trade Johann Anton André ["Mozart grand piano", around 1850] and a pneumatic roller piano by Hupfeld ).

Bartelt Immer is a project partner in the research project "Development of measures to reduce lead corrosion on organ pipes from the 17th and 18th centuries", which is funded from 2016 to 2018 by the German Federal Environmental Foundation and the Hanover Monastery Chamber. He was assigned the organ from St. Wulphardi in Freiburg / Elbe , which he restored in 2013.

List of works

The size of the instruments is indicated in the fifth column by the number of manuals and the number of sounding registers in the sixth column. A capital “P” stands for an independent pedal, a lowercase “p” for an attached pedal.
