About this picture
Location of Bargebur in the urban area from the north

Bargebur is a district in the east of the city north and has around 500 inhabitants (12/2016), who are spread over an area of just 0.65 km². Structurally, Bargebur is completely fused with the northern city center. In the south, the district, separated by the B72 , which is a bypass road to the north , borders on the Tidofelder Holz , a forest area in the neighboring municipality of Lütetsburg . On Fehnkanal along the so-called running Verschönerungsweg . On old maps, Bargebur is also known as "Bergum" or "Westekelbur".

history

Northern citizens refused the Evangelical Reformed Christians to build their church within the then urban area. The Count of Lütetsburg, Dodo (II.) Zu Innhausen and Knyphausen , then allowed them to undertake their project on his own property, which reached up to the city limits. The northerners made the construction of the church more difficult by "raids", which resulted in property damage, until the reformed Great Elector of Brandenburg , who was occupying Greetsiel at that time , relocated troops there in 1684 to protect the building.

On July 1, 1972, Bargebur, which until then belonged to the municipality of Lütetsburg , was incorporated into the city of Norden.
