The Landschaftspolderer Kirche is an Evangelical Reformed church in the East Frisian Landschaftspolder . The brick church was built in 1768.

history

Because of the long way to Bunde or Ditzum, there was a desire since 1759 to employ a preacher of their own in Landschaftspolder, and since 1761 to build their own church. Due to the high financial burdens resulting from the Seven Years' War , these plans had to be postponed first. At the request of the polder farmers, Frederick the Great approved the construction of a church on June 22, 1765 on the newly reclaimed polder. A year later, the Reformed parish of Landschaftspolder, which had previously been parish in Bunde, was founded, and Cornelius Knotnerus was appointed as the first pastor.

In 1768 the church was built with 204 seats. In 1829 a brick bell tower, which was added to the south, replaced the previous wooden building. In the same year, the “old school” with a single classroom was added to the tower behind the church. The school building could only be entered through the tower and was demolished in 1954 and replaced by a tool shed. The bell was cast in 1851 after the medieval one that had been bought from the Hamswehrum community had burst.

The pastorate, which was also built in 1768 and adjoined the church and had a small barn, was demolished in 2004 because it was in disrepair. The congregation had its own pastor until 1922, but was then merged with Ditzumerverlaat in order to support the socially committed pastor Dr. Arnold Wilhelm Nordbeck (* 1860; † 1948) to be disposed of. Since 1973 the Ditzumerverlaater pastor has also been responsible for Süd- Bunderhammrich and since 1984 for Ditzumerhammrich . In 2002 the parish in Landschaftspolder had 63 members.

In 2018, plans were developed for a comprehensive renovation of the church.

Building description

Building inscription from 1829 above the west portal
Church tower from the south

The church, which was built as a rectangular hall church, has not been eaten . Two golden balls adorn the hipped roof . Four arched windows in the western long side and three in the east wall illuminate the interior. In the north side there are two small arched windows and in the south side to the left of the tower a small high-seated arched window. The originally plastered walls were faced in 1960 with clay tiles in the monastery stone format.

The four-storey south tower on a square floor plan also serves as an entrance. Above the high rectangular west portal there is a building inscription: "Built in 1829 when J. Brons Preacher and HC Poelman EJ Mülder were church leaders". Furthermore, a simple door is installed in the south. The lunettes above both entrances have a semicircular skylight. The two middle upper floors of the tower have round-arched sound openings with fighter stones and wedge-shaped keystones on the west side . The top floor of the tower is made of wood and towers above the church. It has sound openings for the bells on all sides. The bell was cast in Stickelkamperfehn in 1851 by the bell founders van Bergen and Fremy. The tower is crowned by a tent roof with a tower knob and a horse as a weather vane.

Furnishing

Organ with historical prospect from 1814

The interior is characterized by the late Baroque church furnishings , which have been completely preserved. The wooden tunnel ceiling rests on consoles and has two chandeliers. Tie rods are used for stabilization. The small polygonal pulpit in gray and white frame is placed in the middle on the north side. The cornice of the pulpit and the hexagonal sound cover are profiled and cranked . The organ gallery in the south bears the inscription "Grace be with you". The wooden box stalls leave a central aisle free. The Vasa Sacra includes a goblet from 1800, a plate, a jug and a baptismal bowl.

The side organ was built in 1814 by Gerhard Janssen Schmid . In 1915 the Rohlfing company from Osnabrück replaced the pipework. In 1987/1988 the Krummhörner organ workshop with Bartelt Immer and Regina Stegemann created a new work in the style of Schmid behind the richly decorated historical prospectus . Three round towers are connected by two-storey harp fields. Two flanking flat fields with blind pipes make the organ appear even larger. The instrument has five registers on a manual and an attached pedal. The disposition is as follows:

I Manual C–
Dumped 8th'
Principal 4 ′
Reed flute 4 ′
recorder 2 ′
Mixture III
Pedal C–
