history

The Battle of Detern took place near Detern on September 27, 1426 . The local fire brigade was formed with Stickhausen and Velde.

Place name

An old name Deterns was Dedarden / Detarden in 1752. The basic word of the place name probably goes back to "-ard" for "settlement, home". The first part of the place name has its origin in “thiotan” for “rustle, sound”, probably based on a water body name. It has the meaning "the noisy, rushing"; so probably "rushing water", as the Aper Tief is nearby. Accordingly, the place name stands for "settlement on the rushing water".

Incorporations

On January 1, 1973, the communities of Amdorf, Barge, Neuburg, Stickhausen and Velde were incorporated. The community lost the addition of stains .

politics

Municipal council

The 13 council members are elected for five years each by local elections. The current term of office began on November 1, 2016 and ends on October 31, 2021.

The last local election on September 11, 2016 resulted in the following:

CDU 37.6% 5 −2.4% 0
SPD 34.7% 4th + 12.5% +1
General voter community (AWG) 13.9% 2 −4.2% 0
Citizens per Jümme (BpJ) 13.8% 2 + 13.8% +2
