The Jümme is a tributary of the Leda and the common tide-dependent lower course of two small rivers.
It emerges from the Barßeler Tief at the point where - from the currents as a tributary mouth - the Dreyschloot branches off to the left to the Leda. The Barßeler Tief emerges 4.66 km upstream from the Soeste as a larger source river and hydrographically with the number 3881 the upper reaches of the Jümme. This unites there with the Nordlohe low , today summarized by name with the Barßeler low to the Nordlohe-Barßeler low. It is created at the confluence of the Nordloher Canal from the Godensholter Tief, combined with the Aue from the Zwischenahner Meer to form the Aue-Godensholter Tief watercourse.
The stretch of the Jümme river between the junction of the Dreyschloot and its junction with the Jümme measures 18.33 km. After just two and a half kilometers, the Aper Tief flows from the right at Detern , and after eight kilometers below Stickhausen the Nordgeorgsfehn Canal , which connects the river system with the Ems-Jade Canal . At the junction of the Jümme with the Leda, both in terms of aspect and hydrology, the smaller upper Leda flows from the south into the larger and straight-forward Jümme-lower Leda.
The fishing rights are incumbent on the local fishing association Altes Amt Stickhausen , which issues permits for both its members and guest anglers.
The neighboring communities of Detern , Filsum and Nortmoor have been merged to form the Jümme community since 1973 .
Together with the Leda, the Jümme forms a "two-stream country", the Leda-Jümme area, one of the most scenic areas in East Frisia . Apart from rivers and drainage ditches are also standing waters such as the 11 hectares large Jümmesee .
shipping
The Jümme can be reached via the Leda, the Nordgeorgsfehnkanal and the Elisabethfehnkanal . It can be navigated by watercraft up to a length of 20 m, a width of 4.5 m and a draft of 1.2 m; the bridge level is 4 m at medium high tide. There are also two bascule bridges that can be opened by prior arrangement.
