Stapelmoor is an old village on the Ems in the East Frisian Rheiderland and belongs to the city of Weener . On December 31, 2017, 1,082 people lived in Stapelmoor, which, together with Stapelmoorerheide, forms a part of the city of Weener. Bernhard Siemons has been the mayor since 2006.

history

Stapelmoor is one of the oldest villages in East Friesland, whose origins are presumed to be in pre-Christian times. The parish is mentioned for the first time in 1428. On January 1, 1973, Stapelmoor was incorporated into the city of Weener.

climate

Stapelmoor lies like all of Central Europe in the west wind zone. Therefore the weather is often changeable with relatively mild winters and moderately warm summers. The weather is slightly maritime due to the proximity to the Dollart (ten kilometers) and the North Sea (forty kilometers).

The Kreuzkirche in Stapelmoor dates from the third quarter of the 13th century. Its unusual floor plan in the form of a St. Andrew's cross has no right angles. Inside the church, large parts of the medieval paintings have been preserved. The font made of Bentheim sandstone dates from the early 13th century, the pulpit was built around 1600. The organ was built in 1994 in the historic case by Bartelt Immer , Reinalt Johannes Klein and Claude Jaccard in a classic French style. It has 23 registers on three manuals and a pedal. The model was the famous Clicquot organ in Houdan (1734).

The parsonage was built according gable inscription 1429th It is one of the oldest still inhabited rectories in Germany .

The mill in Stapelmoor - a gallery Dutchman from 1909 - is fully functional. The wings and a lifting device for changing the millstones were taken over from a mill that had been demolished from the surrounding area. The mill is visited by an estimated 5000 people annually.

  • A regular event in Stapelmoor is Free for All , a free rock festival in Stapelmoorer Park. The name is derived from a series on MTV .

  • The satirical program Extra 3 of the NDR has the section Dat geiht voor in Stapelmoor , which plays in Stapelmoor , in which three East Frisians from Stapelmoor talk about God and the world.
  • The “French Organ Week Stapelmoor” with a gala concert and organ course or the “Concert for tea” take place in the church and the parish garden, alternating every year.
  • Between Christmas and New Year there is an invitation to the traditional Noël concert in the Stapelmoor church.
