history
The place is first mentioned in 1735 as Tichelwerk . Later, the name of Tichelwerk changed to today's place name. It goes back to the Low German name for a brick factory that is said to have existed as early as the 16th century. The settlement of the place began along the Poststrasse from Bunde to Neuschanz . In the 19th century the place grew rapidly: In 1823 there were still 464 people living in 81 households, 25 years later, in 1848 there were 579 inhabitants.
