history

Furnishing

Crucifixion group

One of the oldest objects in the church is the crucifixion group above the altar, which dates from the end of the 15th century. Originally it was located in the old church on a triumphal arch between the choir and the nave. It was not placed above the altar until the church was renovated in 1939.

Communion chalices

The oldest communion chalice dates from 1678.

Baptismal font

The baptismal font is a bronze cauldron on three supporting figures, which supposedly originally stood on a bronze ring. The basin bears an inscription - in mirror writing. It reads: “Orate pro ludeke mils unde sin vrowe” (in German: Pray for “Ludeke Mils” and his wife!). Time of manufacture: late 14th century. Since the bronze ring is no longer there, a sandstone base was made so that the baptismal font has a normal height.

organ

View of the organ

The organ was inaugurated in 1958 and has 1425 pipes. It was overhauled in 1968 and its sound improved in 1976.

Bells

A three-part bell hangs in the 36.60 meter high tower, which has a rare disposition.

The history of the bells can be traced back to 1630. The following inscription is known from the bell that was cast at that time: EVERYTHING IS PLACED ON GOD'S BLESSING. DORCHS FIRE I FLOSS, CLAWS JÜRGENS GOSS ME. ANNO 1630 BSK. This bell was housed in a wooden tower that was 104 feet (~ 31.70 m) high. When the church was rebuilt in 1880, three new bells were cast at the Otto foundry in Bremen-Hemelingen. They sounded in the notes d ′, f sharp ′ and a ′. During the First World War, the two big ones had to be given up. The third remained in the tower. In 1921, three new iron bells were purchased from JF Weule and the remaining bronze bell was given away due to a lack of harmony. Nothing is known about their whereabouts. After the shutdown of bells 2 and 3, they were taken down. Then the current bell was poured:
