Bashshar Awwad Marouf

Bashshar Awwad Marouf ( Arabic بشار_عواد_معروف/ Baššār ʿAwwād Maʿrūf; * 1940 ) is an Iraqi historian and writer. He is the former rector of the Islamic University in Baghdad .

Marouf is one of the Fellows of the Royal Aal al-Bayt Institute for Islamic Thought (Royal Aal al-Bayt Institute for Islamic Thought). He was one of the 138 signatories of the open letter a common word between us and you ( Engl. A Common Word Between Us and You ), the personalities of Islam to "leaders of Christian churches everywhere" (English: "Leaders of Christian Churches, everywhere ... “) (October 13, 2007).
