Basic and Applied Ecology mainly publishes so-called "minireviews" and specialist articles from all areas of basic and applied ecology. The journal publishes works by plant and animal ecologists, agricultural scientists, forest ecologists, tropical ecological topics, limnological, soil and geo-ecological works. In addition, works by landscape ecologists and nature conservation biologists appear. For members of the GfÖ, the magazine is included in the membership fee.
