The Basilica Porcia is the first datable basilica , a court and assembly building in ancient Rome .

Marcus Porcius Cato let them in 184 BC. During his censorship at the Comitium next to the Curia Hostilia in Rome. Cato bought two private houses and some shops from public funds in order to be able to build the basilica. The building was used for court sessions and gatherings. The fire that started during the funeral of Publius Clodius Pulcher in 52 BC Erupted in BC, destroyed both the Hostilia Curia and the Porcia basilica.
