Bass Cannon gained notoriety when the title was played on the Chris Moyles Show by Chris Moyles on the BBC . Bass Cannon was also published and promoted on the UKFDubstep channel on YouTube , where the post has received over 21,900,000 clicks so far (as of June 4, 2016). Bass Cannon was released on the Circus Records label and reached number 56 on the UK charts, where he stayed for six weeks.

The title gained further notoriety through the "Orbital Bass Cannon Mod" for the game Garry's Mod or Trouble in Terrorist Town. The mod adds a weapon with a laser sight to the game. When it is fired, the title is played and a laser beam coming from the sky is generated, which creates a pressure wave after hitting the ground. Any players who are nearby will be thrown through the air or killed.
