Bassam Abdul-Salam

Bassam Abdul-Salam (born October 17, 1967 ) is a musician and inventor. Abdul-Salam works in the fields of orchestras, new music, musicals, avant-garde and solo performances.

education

From October 1989 to May 1994 he studied classical percussion, orchestral music and drums at the Freiburg University of Music with Bernhard Wulff . He completed his studies with a diploma. Abdul-Salam studied the Batá drums of the Afro-Cuban religion "Santería" in Cuba.

Appearances

Abdul-Salam played with radio and symphony orchestras. He appeared at international festivals, e.g. B. at the Berliner Festwochen, the Salzburg Festival and the Venice Biennale. In 2001 he worked as a percussionist and solo drummer at Disney's “The Lion King” in Hamburg.

Others

In 2016, Abdul-Salam also gave a bOdrum workshop for the teacher training courses in Music and Sport and BA / MA Popular Music and Media at the University of Paderborn . In it, Abdul-Salam showed the possibilities of using drums, movement and music to promote language acquisition in DaZ classes (German as a second language).
